Kai has been ADOPTED!

Sweet little Kai, now Oliver, found his forever home and we couldn't be happier!  He is joining his new  dog sister Zoila and his awesome parents on the east coast.   The moment Oliver and his new dad met, they were over the moon for each other.  I am so happy for Oliver and his new family to begin many new adventures together.  Oliver was a joy to have in our home, we will miss you little buddy but you have an amazing life ahead of you!

It's getting pretty chilly outside so we bought Kai a new sweatshirt to keep him warm!  He loves it and is cute as ever!

Kai did fantastic on our 2 hour hike!  I had to pick him up a few times because there were some huge logs to climb over but he loved exploring.  Kai ended up a muddy little guy but he had a super nap in front of the fire.

True to terrier form, Kai found... Moo-moo the stuffed squirrel.  Kai loves Moo-moo and is careful not to rip him up.  He proudly carries him around, tossing and chasing Moo-moo.   Our son is gracious to lend Moo-moo to Kai just as long as Moo-moo stays in one peice.

Kai is sacked out on the couch enjoying the comforts of a warm home.  Sure beats a crowded, cold shelter!

Once Kai hears the bath water, he runs to the bathroom.  He is a funny guy and will wait for them to get out of the bath to lick the water off their feet.  This creates endless giggles and puppy play every bath time.

Kai thanks New Rattitude for saving him out of a nasty shelter in California.  He is thankful for his loving foster family and will be ever so grateful to find his forever home!

Kai came from a high kill shelter in California.  I think this may be his first time in the snow.  He didn't mind it too much however....

Kai has been with us for a week now and he continues to settle in nicely with our busy family.  This morning we laughed as we watched him play with a hard piece of play dough.  I love his silly puppy play as do our kids!  The nice thing about Kai is that even though he is a 5 mo old puppy, he is happy to play with humans and when we are done he will chew his bone quietly until we are ready to play again.

Kai has had an upset tummy so every chance he got to snuggle with me he took... however, I am busy with a sick two year old so he opted for snuggling with babies.

From a terrible shelter to a cozy warm place to snooze... Kai is settling in well!  Life is good for this little sweet boy!

Meet Kai, our new foster boy

 Kai is an adorable 5-6 month old male rat terrier that came from a high kill shelter in California.  He is super sweet, playful and oh so cute!  We just brought him home tonight off transport.  He's had a warm bath, been fed and played with our kids.  He's happily chewing bully stick and ready for bed now.  We are a busy house hold with young kids but I have no doubts that Kai will keep up just fine.  By the way, the name Kai comes from Lego Ninjago.  Our son was so excited to name him Kai after his favorite Ninjago character.

ADOPTED: Yay, Zoi has found her furever home!!!!

This lucky lady has found the perfect home where she will be loved and guaranteed some lap snuggle time.  Our sweet shy girl will join a laid back fella, Max, who is a friendly Boston Terrier.  I am beyond thrilled for Zoi and am thankful her new family found her!

Liv just woke up from a nap and found Zoi relaxing on our bed.  She is was showing me Zoi's ears, nose, "milk" and snuck in a kiss.  Zoi enjoyed the 1:1 attention!

I wanted to see how Zoi did with other dogs.  Meet Maggie (right) and Lacey (left) with Zoi (in the middle) both Maggie and Lacey are New Rattitude rescues that were adopted by friends and family.  Zoi did great with the girls.  She growled a little at first but then was happy to follow the dogs around.

Zoi adores our kids.  Her nightly routine before going to sleep in her crate is laying with our son while he reads.  Sometimes she acts like she is asleep so no one will see her and maybe, just maybe she'll get to sleep on his bed all night.  Funny girl!

Today Zoi was spayed.  I got her extra pain medicine but she didn't miss a beat.  She just slept a bit more but no complaining on her end.  What a tough gal!  This quilt is her favorite spot.. snuggled on the couch.

Meet Zoi

This sweet little 3 year old female found herself in a high kill shelter in California.  Luckily, New Rattitude came to her rescue! She arrived 4 days ago and is on the mend from a nasty bug of kennel cough.  She wouldn't eat or drink and was shaking and cowering.  Poor girl.  Now, 5 days later, she is walking more relaxed, will chew a bully stick, wags her tail a bit and best of all..... LOVES to sit in your lap and give kisses.  She is starting to come out of her scared little shell.

FISHER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

It is bitter-sweet... tomorrow sweet little Fisher heads to his forever family!  This isn't as sad as I thought it would be because I am so happy that he is going to such a wonderful, loving family!  I know Fisher will have a long, happy, loved life with his new family!

Positive treat training

When we got Fisher he didn't know how to sit, lay down or stay.  Throught out the month we have had him we have been working on these skill using treats for positive reinforcement training.  Fisher responds beautifully to treats and positive training.  Today, I am proud to say that Fisher was successful at sitting, laying down and staying!  I am a proud foster mom!  Fisher still is trying to master not jumping up on people and mouthing.  He is a smart boy that is eager to please.

While Liv took a short nap on my lap, Fisher took full advantage of snuggling up close to a warm baby foot.  We don't sit much around here but when we do, he is eager snuggle in!

Fisher is really working on his dog socialization skills. This is Otter, a mellow black lab, who was a great playmate for Fisher.  I was so excited to see Fisher not bark and really just have fun playing sticks with Otter.... I had a proud foster mom day with him!

Just to give you an idea of how tall Fisher is, I use this paper towel roll for perspective.  He is only 10 lbs.  The nice thing about his size is that he is fun, sturdy and mellow at the same time and not huge and overpowering.  He is the perfect size for kids to play with and feel confident around dogs due to his sweet nature and small size.  He love to get his puppy play time on but will quickly lay in the sun or go chew his bone.

Fisher came with us to Central Oregon for a weekend away.  Fisher went on a lot of walks and was introduced to new people and new environments.  He hung out with Lacey, a New Rattitude alum, which is great for his social dog skills.  He is still working on curbing his barking at new people and dogs, and is quickly re-directed with treats.  Here is was hanging out on the deck waiting for a treat.

The weather is awesome today!  A perfect day for a run with Fisher.  He is patiently waiting on the deck to get going!  He runs/walks very well on a leash making taking him running with a stroller super easy.  The video is bouncy but you get the idea.
